And another month slips by...

Wow where did May go?  Well there has been lots going on hence not enough time to blog. My full time job has kept me pretty busy and away from home for a few nights so coming home means catching up round the house and being just a little tired!!
Creatively though, I have begun teaching this month and my first 2 classes went really well. It was very rewarding watching other people take your instructions and watch them interpret them and make great art! I did have a hard time just watching though.
I also sold my first to pieces of art. So that was a big exciting! I do find it hard to price my art though. Here is the 2 pieces I sold:

I shouted myself the Brother ScanNCut for Mother's Day!! So exciting. I can draw my own pictures and scan them and then cut them. And I will never buy another alphabet again.

I have also been making a bit of jewellery just to change things up a bit.

I hope you all are creating your hearts out. I am looking forward to a long weekend and some art.

Take care xox

Happy Anzac Day!

Another long weekend and the perfect chance to do some crafting! Easter has just been and I have to say I was very crafty and productive. I caught up on a couple of my Journal 52 weeks with these two pictures.

Here is a Day in my life and party animals!!

Easter came a chance to make my staff a little pressie of bunny pooh!

Then on the long weekend I did a number of projects. Firstly some Mothers Day cards:

Then I tried a project from you tube by making this bag with duct tape and staples! Loved the way it turned out so much I made 2!!

This inspired me to make my own art into a bag. Here is one side....

Now to complete the other side and get the bag made...stay tuned!!!

Hope you are getting some crafty projects done on this long weekend!!

Having to go to go work when all you want to do is craft....

So it's April. Where did March go?? It has been a busy month for me hence why I haven't had the time to update my blog. I am behind in Journal 52 by about 4 weeks now I think and I am in creative heaven!!! By that I mean there is so much inspiring me at the moment that I can't wait to get stuck in however having to go to work and other family commitments has meant that I haven't had much spare time.

That's ok because in my head there is a million ideas flowing. I did a demo at Scrapaholics in East Tamaki on the weekend and that went really well. I met some great people and now have the chance to teach some classes. It's so exciting.

Well once again I must head off to work so I will certainly be making an effort this weekend to get up to date with my journal challenge and attempt to do some more catch up on here.

Hope everyone is having a great creative week.

Week 8

Well I got week 8 finished on time. This weeks prompt was found poetry. The idea is to use magazines or old books and find words to create a poem. I found an old book and to my children's horror, starting chopping out phrases and words to make my poem.

Here is what I came up with:

The Dreamer

Curled up like a kitten
In one corner of the sofa
A soft pillow behind her shoulders
It is well past your bedtime.
Dreamily she stared down
She wanted to hug this moment
Through the deepening purple twilight
The tranquil spell had overtaken
She slept in sweet contentment

To accompany my poem, I drew a little sleeping lady who looks to be dreaming contentedly. I did this over a gelli printed background.

Have you had a crafty week??

Weeks 5, 6 and 7 and a few other bits...

So week 5's prompt was Abstract. Completely out of my comfort zone here but that is a great thing as it makes you try something new and makes you grow. I decided to try using alcohol inks and outline the shapes with black pen and then doodle on them with white gel pen. This was done on glossy paper.

Week 6 coincided with Valentines day and the prompt was Love Letters. Pretty easy for me to decide what to do as it's my wedding anniversary so I took the letter I and D and O, I do!!

Week 7's prompt was "When I Grow Up". I stepped back into my comfort zone of a face but this time I used a great stencil by The Crafters Workshop. So quick and easy to use and get a great face. I thought about what I wanted to be when I grow up and I think I have most of them. I really did want to be a vet but I realised that I would to deal with cat sick...well let's just say I gave up on that!

So that brings me up to date and at week 8 which I will show you once I have done it. In the mean time I have been doing a Jane Davenport online class to help learn expressions on my girls faces. So here are a couple more faces I have been working on.

Enjoy and see ya soon!

A smiley face, a worried face, a neutral face and maybe a laughing face (or sneezing...I couldn't decide.)

Well that's all for now...I hope you are having a creative week!!

The first few weeks....

So here is week 1 and the prompt for this week was Up, up and Away.  This lady was done on a gelli printed paper  and done with acrylic paint and Prisma pencils. I straight away thought of a butterfly so this great stamp was prefect!

Week 3 was the prompt "You make me smile". I did this on another gelli printed paper and this little unicorn was waiting for me. It's made me smile purely because I didn't realise I could draw a unicorn!!  The texture in the background is some stencilling of the leopard spots and stamping of the little netting like pattern. (By the way, yes I missed week 2 out because I couldn't find the picture !! )

Week 4 and you can probably see I love drawing faces!  This weeks prompt was "my character".
The words pretty much explain how I feel on that one.

So that's the first couple of weeks to start with. I hope you are all having a crafty creative day wherever you are!!

Thanks for stopping by.

Prompts to help you on your crafty way...

In January this year I was lucky to be told about a art journalling group called Journal 52. It's a free challenge to join and each week you are given a prompt to inspire an art journal page. You keep your work in a ring binder which I thought was genius as you don't need to rush out and buy a special (and sometimes expensive) journal. You can use whatever you have on hand and it also gives you the freedom to work on different types of paper ie watercolour, gloss etc.

There is a facebook page you can join and upload your weekly masterpiece. There are some very talented people out there and it's very inspiring to see everyone's work. So a big thank you to Jo Johnson  for letting me know about it. (By the way, Jo has a great website called Imagine If with great crafty supplies to buy. Please check it out!!).

I will upload my pages I have done over the last 5 weeks and try to keep you up to date with my progress. I hope you join up too and it's great having weekly inspiration to help focus your crafty efforts if you find yourself stuck.

Hope you are having a great day!!
